The countdown begins: One month till launch + Celebrating friendship
Only one month till matchmaking.
The Chorus mobile app will be live in one month, which means—drumroll—matchmakers can finally start matchmaking! The profile you previously created on the web will be there when you download the app (so get them ready… more tips on this soon!).
Here’s the thing about the early stages of a new dating app—all our growth is organic, friends telling friends, not paid ads—so we’re attracting people who are tired of Tinder, who care about connection, and—who have friends. Trust us, this is already a huge improvement.
Some notes on launch:
SAVE THE DATE: NY Launch Party, December 17th. The theme is “Make Friends and Lovers” and, naturally, it’ll be at one of our favorite local spots, Friends & Lovers. More deets on this soon.
We’re starting with a focus in NY. Everyone else can download the app when it launches (please do!) but we *may* not have matches for you just yet. Be patient, we’ll get there!
San Francisco & Los Angeles: We are coming for you early next year, so start spreading the word! West Coast launch party deets soon.
Share with friends! Friends can sign up on the web for early access and an invite to our launch parties.
Get your Matchmakers and Daters on Chorus.
You cannot swipe for yourself on Chorus. We are all about friends helping friends (and in this case, swiping for friends). In order to get a match on Chorus, you need a friend in there with you. That’s the whole point: to make dating more fun and less lonely.
Log on to our web app to see if you have Matchmakers / Daters and invite them if you don’t. Or invite friends via the unique link in your welcome email.
We recommend every Dater have at least 3 people swiping for them. And Matchmakers, go wild, swipe for as many people as you like!
The challenge and power of friendship.
To kick-off our one month countdown, we’re featuring essays about friendship. It's not always easy making and maintaining friendships as we get older, but when we do, they can be more powerful than ever.
J. Colette Prosper writes about making the notorious NY to LA move, the challenge of making new friends as an adult, and her foray into improv to do so.
"Something that has stayed with me since my very first improv class at Groundlings is the phrase “choose to know.” It’s what my teacher would say to guide us through a scene, to encourage us to feel confident in our instincts."
Zhalisa reflects on how friends took a new shape in her life and ultimate became her family, or “framily,” if you will.
“Family, for us, is a choice. Family is our chosen people, the people that have come into our lives and that we choose to hold on to and spend time with. We support each other, not because we have to, not because the universe placed us in the same household, but because we choose to, because we choose each other. In this choice is power. In this choice is love.”
The friends behind Chorus.
In full disclosure, this week's essay from Zhalisa and the "framily" it references mean the world to Chorus. This group is the heart and soul of the early Chorus community—the people who encouraged our small team to keep going, who opened their doors to host photo shoots and dinners and discussions, who modeled for our website, took photos, shot videos, posted flyers around town, and helped us find our first employees. Friends are everything to us, and we're building this for our community as well as yours. We can't wait to see you and your friends on the app!
x,
Emily
